An Update

I am still trying to master the iPad app, Blogsy, to post my new blog entries, so please be patient with me. I took a picture of my latest project with my iPad. I haven't figured out how (and don't know if it is even possible) to use a flash with the iPad camera, so I apologize up front for the quality of the photo.

I had originally planned on entering this project in the SAQA exhibit "I'm Not Crazy," but life intervened. I was on schedule to get it finished by deadline time, but my Dad became gravely ill (and has since made a truly miraculous recovery). Between that horrible experience of almost losing my Dad and a once-in-a-lifetime, wonderful trip to Italy, I didn't get it finished by deadline. I've decided to go ahead and finish it. I have a lot of work in it so far; it still has a lot to go. (She will have red lips; they just haven't been added yet.)

Since I posted last, I have sewn down all the yoyos and all of the bias strips between the "hair/brain" sections. I am planning on cutting away the background--for it not to be a rectangle. For me, that presents a lot of problems...

  1. Outlining the entire piece (I want a black outline around the entire piece.)
  2. Figuring out a way to hang it so the "spikes" don't flop over
  3. Finishing (or not) the edges
Any ideas?

Love this! It's hard to answer your questions or give suggestions without seeing it in person to see how it was put together, so sorry, can't help with your issues. I'm sure you'll figure them out, just takes some thought.

This is great! I don't have any suggestions, but, being the true artist that you are, I know you will find the perfect solution!
